My instincts are top notch. The prepair person never showed up. My house is still a hot box. The only saving grace is that the wife is walking around naked, but it's too hot to take advantage.

Life is un fair sometimes.

The other good news is that it's going to rain for the next three days so it will be at least ten degrees cooler than it normally would be this time of year. Because it's the 4th tomorrow it means it will be at least Thursday before we even get a whiff of someone looking at the a.c.

No video games. Just misery. Happy 4th everyone.

My air conditioning has stopped working in my house. We have created a wind tunnel of small fans in our living room, but my PS4 is in the bedroom. So, I'm not finishing Dad of Boy until I get unnatural recycled air in my lungs again.

The repair person is supposed to arrive sometime today, but I'm skeptical, as I am about a lot of things lately, but we live way too far south to exist without air conditioning for long periods of time.

I know up north it is cool enough to not have a.c. but the heat and humidity make it impossible here. I did it as a kid, but I am far too old and too sick to live without an a.c. for a Mississippi summer.

I will update you all later today. Heat index is currently 106, and the temperature is presently only 84 because of the simmer afternoon thunderstorms. So, it's manageable, for now.

The wife and I watched The Last Jedi on Netflix again this morning. I had not seen the movie in months, but it is not as bad as I remember.

It just feels like there were a lot of missed opportunities to make the middle of the movie better.

I still love all the stuff with Luke and Rey. It's a perfect reflection of age, hero worship, and Luke having zero patience.

The first 42 minutes are great. Everyone has a moment to shine. It just all falls apart when Poe calls Maz, and she doesn't show up in the movie.

If the middle of the movie could have been Poe, Rose, and Finn sneaking into the Lead Dreadnaught ship to disable the light speed tracking device, instead of the side mission to Canto Bight; it would have been a much better movie.

The main characters could have been caught, and much like in Empire Rey could have had to leave Luke before her training was complete. Yes, it would have been like Empire but it was still a better play than what we got.

I would have even liked if Maz showed up to help them all escape from The First Order. Luke could have died after killing Snoke in an epic lightsaberfight telling Maz ro get the remaining characters back to Crait. Echoing what happened to Obi Wan in a New Hope.

The film doesn't warrant a remake, just a few changes to make the pacing and cohesion better.

I thought about the fact that Peter is in space, and while his suit technically can't tear, it could break apart, or get damaged, stopped functioning, and he stumbles upon the symbiote.

It is a golden opportunity, but Sony has to poop on anything that might resemble common sense.

They so want to franchise everything Spider-Man so bad that they are just thirsty for anything to stick. Sure the Venom movie could turn out well, but even if it does it's not going to ever make enough sense to fit into a Spider-Man cross over movie ever; unless we get a 4th or 5th reboot.

Dear Sony,

Please stop making Spider-Man spin off movies. Venom is more than enough, and none of us want or need a Mochale Morbious movie.

Not to switch gears entirely even though I am, it's time to talk about these morons who want to remake The Last Jedi already.

Apparently their biggest problem with the movie is the portrayal of Luke Skywalker.

Here's what I said about Luke. Warning for spoilers,

Luke was never patient. What happened in The Last Jedi was just an extension of the fact he left Dagobah early in Empire and never finished his training.

It's well within character for him to not have the patience to trust in the force and trust in Kylo to not go to the dark side.

Yes, young Luke was dumb and optimistic, but age sours all of us. Ever heard of the optimism of youth?

The Last Jedi was not a perfect movie, but the Luke stuff is right. Hell, Yoda even tells Luke he has no patience.

If anything the middle part with Finn and Rose is what needs to be changed, and the ending with Holdo.

The Resident Evil 4 run last night was interesting. I had no clue that the game had any out of bounds at all. The runner just literally ran through a game it took me a solid week to finish when I was just getting out of College and working full time.

Megaman block is happening right now so I'm off as the wife is asleep.

In sad news Richard "Old Man" Harrisom from Pawn Stars has passed away. He was 77. I bring this up because when I was in the hospital fighting for my life 4 years ago I watched a lot of Pawn Stars during my recovery, and it helped pass the time a lot.

Thank You Old Man and Pawn Stars.

SDGQ is starting today. It's a week long speesrunning fund raiser. I know not all the money gets to where it's supposed to go, but if a few dollars make it to the final destination it could help.

Plus even if you don't donate money you can enjoy great speed runs. I always love the Megan and Castlevania blocks. It's a week long you can probably find a game or two that you like.

I was talking about the good old days with my wife as she drove to work Tuesday night. Clearly for an Interacial couple the good old days weren't so good. Besides I'm a city boy and she's a country girl, and that alone is enough to have a wide chasm of differences.

However, we did agree on one thing.

Kool-Aid.

I miss the old flavors that were taken off the market. Surethey still have grape and tropical punch, but what about Purplesaures Rex and Great Bloudoinhi?

Well, I found this web site that still sells the old flavors. Maybe you can get some joy out of them too.

I still do not have a Switch. With me not working and living off a very limited and fixed income, and my wife trying to get her Masters, money is going to be tight for a while.

Furthermore, I just do not need a Switch right now, or possibly ever.

I would like to play Zelda, Mario, and Octopath Traveler, but 3 games is not worth shelling out another 400 dollars for a new console. And with Metroid Prime 4 being at least 2 years away I can get a Switch, if I still want one in 2020 for cheap, when my wife has a great high paying job.

Chris Hardwick is a sexual assault jerk too.

Turns out he forced his ex old lady to have nightly sex with him, I guess she couldn't fake a headache all the time, told her she could not ever speak in public, and told her she could not leave the house at night. I guess if she could couldn't get wet or eat after midnight there would be a lot of little gremlin related issues, but I digress.

He's lost his job at AMC, and the Nerdist is pretending he never existed.

Now that E3 is over; were there any games that were not already announced or hypes that caught your attention? You know, hidden gems.

For example, last year there was the huge reveal of Dragonball Fighterz. I was very excited to know that Arc System Works was making an anime fighter. I was excited and it helps that the game did turn out well.

I need to comb through the info, but I have not seen any surprises this year. If there is a game or 2 that has caught your attention let me know and post it here, even with a nice YouTube video attached.

Im.worried about CM Punk.

He's too old to really be a proven MMA fighter in the UFC. He doesn't have the bulky body type either, being a vegan doesn't help in that department. So the combination of age, body, training, experience, and just honestly a lack of passion means he will never be a star in MMA.

He burned his bridges in the WWE. It wasn't his fault, and he settled that 8 million dollar lawsuit against the crazy WWE doctor who treated him and Kane, and got both of them staph infections. However, he and his wife AJ are in trouble with living the rest of their lives financially.

The best they both can hope for is maybe going back to New Japan or Ring of Honor and big a big fish in a small non WWE pond. He could pull down a million a year on either organization, and wouldn't have to work the brutal WWE schedule.

We will see how it all shakes out, but he is not a MMA fighter

I thought we addressed the crap fest that was the 2016 female Ghostbusters in a previous Geek topic.

For brevity I will just say that its "Dog ****."

It has nothing to do with it being an all female reboot. It has everything to do with the horrible nonsense of a cobbled together plot. Then the terrible miscasting of the 4 leads, well 2 of them at least (Wigg and McCarthy.)
Turns out they hated each other on set, and it shows.

Finally the directing. Directing isn't just framing and shooting a shot. It's getting a solid performance out of your actors. That didn't happen at all. It was a mess of a movie, and I wish I could be more harsh, but because its an all female production, I have to walk on egg shells...

But it's terrible. Much like Birdman.

From what I've seen I have been most impressed with The Resident Evil 2 remake.

I believe for me that's my game of show.

The graphics and the atmosphere are top notch. It's a very dark game literally and figuratively. Plus the changes made from the original game are more than enough to keep me interested.

My wife works at night so I'm alone by myself with the kitty cats, and I hear weird noises all night. I'm prepared to be scared and freaked out for 12 plus hours in 4k.

The latest backlash from E3 is that Cyberpunk 2077 is first person.

One of the huge selling aspects of the game was that you had a "Cool" atribute based around your choices, your starting traits, and finally your clothes.

It's pretty damn hard to see your clothes and how cool you are in first person.

Since the game doesn't have a release date we will just have to wait and see, but first person combat that isn't shooting, can get real clunky, real fast.

I do not care about Smash. I barely care about Nintendo.

I suppose Smash Ultimate is great for fans, but it's not really a new Smash. Ok, it's more of a port or an update to Smash 4. Call it Smash 4.5 if you will.

The reactions online seem positive from the fans, but it's not for me. I do not consider Smash a fighting game, or an interesting party game.

Plus I'm salty I didn't get any Metroid Prime 4 news. Octopath Traveler looks great though.

Opinion: My views do not reflect the opinions of otherHeeks in this topic.

What the hell Square Enix?

You had a press conference yesterday to talk about or reveal nothing.

No Final Fantasy VII remake news. No screenshot, a trailer, a press release, a raven from the hinterlands.... not a damn thing.

Fine, the FF7 remake will be out once we sacrifice Konami to the devil.

Final Fantasy XVI?
Parasite Eve?
Chrono Break?
Soul Reaver? (Yeah, I didn't forget about you.)

A new I.P. with a trailer or a cool concept? Nope.

Why spend millions on a press conference to tell us crap we already know? It was a waste of time and money.

Final thought: I need a dn time machine so I can fix this janky as company.

P.O. I already know you don't give a poop, but if nothing happens soon, well, I'm out.

The Hitman 2 announcement today was a big disappointment. Unless you're a Hitman fan. Hell, I'm not a fan of Bret The Hitman Hart. (He wasn't as great of a wrestler as he thought he was.) So, another Hitman game wasn't what I personally wanted.

I actually was hoping for Mortal Kombat XI. Since Ed Boon was teasing a lot of Sub Zero related stuff on Twitter over the last few weeks.

I'm not actually a big fan of Netherrealm fighting games, other thanThe fact that they are beautiful games. The game play is weak sauce compared to Arc System Works games and Capcom fighting games. But the presentation in Netherrealm games is on point so it makes up for the gameplay to an extent.

So In summary.

Hitman 2.. meh
Bret the Hitman Hart.. Double meh
No Mortal Kombat XI yet... Triple meh.

To go back to Black Panther for a moment.

My wife is very white. Pale skin, flaming red hair. She's close to six feet tall. We kind of stick out when we go to the movies or anywhere actually.

(Voting was interesting yesterday as Mississippi had its Primary.)

When we went to see Black Panther afterwards she told me she really liked the movie, but that she too was aware of her whiteness.

She admitted that if she wasn't married to me that she would have felt a bit uncomfortable watching the movie in a theater alone, or with her white friends.

I'm not sure of that's the pointed the movie, but it was part of the backlash (Eh...) online.

Black Panther is incredible. Full disclosure I am African American, and that movie is in my demographic.

However, the love and care taken to make it the movie feel completely modern, African, and traditional at the same time is amazing. Even the soundtrack, which I won for free in a contest, is a nice mix of urban and African flair.

Then we get to Killmonger. Finally a villain who wasn't wrong at all, and called T'Chalia out on the garbage hyprocracy of Wakanda and their isolation from the world. The ending where....

He tells Black Panther to bury his ass in the sand like his ancestors!

Was The most badass moment in any Marvel movie to date.

Yes, the CGI was off in places, but that happens in every Marvel movie.

Overall, it's a great movie and one of the best, if not the best, Marvel movies they have done.

I've softened on The Last Jedi a lot since Christmas. I think a lot of it had to do with seeing the movie a second and third time, and finding the good in the movie, and focus less on the bad.

I'm still not a fan of the middle of the movie, or Poe being wasted, but I do get the subtle nuisance they tried to establish in the movie. It didn't always work, but I do like what they did with Luke's character.

Holdo and Rose are still huge problems. Mainly because Holdo could have used a droid to accomplish the task at the end of the movie.

The Leia stuff is fine too. It's a mixed bag, but still enough worthwhile that I'm not going to fan boy rage and declare it the worst thing ever.

I'm not a fan of casting Jamie Foxx as Spawn. I feel it's going to be two hours of him growling and talking with his mouth closed thru his teeth.

Speaking of Foxx, my wife told me that he's been dating Katie Holmes for like 5 years. I don't care who anyone dates, it's just funny I didn't know that thus was happening, and for so long too.

As for alternative casting choices Winston Duke or Daniel Kaluuya are better choices.

Yesterday Ubisoft, I mean, an Obscure French Website, leaked the next Assasins Creed.

The Obscure French Website had a key chain that said, "Assassins Creed Odyssey."

My point is that can we just stop pretending that these "leaks" a week before E3, are actually leaks, and instead call them what they are, "Hype Teases."

Because nothing in this day and age leaks without the company knowing. Hell, if you look at the article on Kotaku's banner, on their homepage, they admit they knew all of this stuff in Janurary, and didn't report any of it because of fear of embargo.

Yet, we are supposed to believe this French Website has Deep Throat type reporters working the hotlines and walking the streets to get a keychain to prove this game does exist.

No Freaking Way!

Just cut the garbage giant companies.

What seals it for me is that all of a sudden. Ubisoft has a trailer up for the new game on Twitter less than 24 hours after the "Leak." It takes days or even weeks to cut together a trailer.

It's just annoying. At least to me.

In the beginning there was Geek.
And it was good.
However, POTD was lifeless and without form.
Then one day, a group of mortals, stronger together, weaker apart, came together with a single idea.
What if there was a place, a topic, where we could discuss the nerd events of the day without fear of politics, religion, sports, only wrestling, never interfering with that dream?
Then the geek topics were born.
And it was good.
Damn good.

You know the rules. Post anything Geek related. As per geektradition we have an opening question to keep the topic going.

"If you had three super powers, not just one or even two, what would they be?"

Bonus question: "Good or bad, it's your choice, what would your arch enemy be like. Describe his or her powers."

Wrap up from: Geektivus in the upcoming post.

A lot of news today.

Roseanne was cancelled... again... after Roseanne tweeted some racist nonsense. People really shouldn't drink and tweet. She was issued a warning earlier this year about her tweets, but hatred can't be suppressed by threats of unemployment. Silly Disney.

Andrew Lincoln is leaving The Walking Dead. I quit watching years ago, so this isn't a loss to me personally. That show is hard to watch on a weekly basis. It's so dour. Lauren Cohen is stepping back too, but Norman Reedus got a 20 million dollar contract extension, so the show will live on, forever and ever and ever.

Finally Twitch is streaming classic Doctor Who episodes.

That's all for news.

I'm going to get my large popcorn, my Hi-C, and my secret sammich in her purse, just in case, and I'm going to enjoy the hell out of this movie.

I am not seeing Infinity War until Sunday afternoon. So I have to avoid spoilers as well.

I'm proud of Big Cass. He actually cut a decent promo on Smackdown Tuesday.

A little upset about not going to Mania, but I'm young. It's just good motivation to do well in my rehab, get stronger, and then I can sit in any seat I desire.

I freaking hate Ticket master.

I need handicap seat because I only have one leg, and I go to their website to buy Wrestlemania tickets, and they tell me I can't because I have to call directly for special tickets.

No problem, so I call, and they tell me I have to go to the website. Wait.... I can buy them online or over the phone? So, if I can't buy them online or over the phone is there a magic third option I don't know about?

I'm so triggered.

I am doing physical therapy 3 times a week to learn to walk with my robot leg.

I'm just so busy, but I will try to post more stuff.

I did convince Oreon to download and play Fortnite. I'm a horrible brother.
